Yael crossed the Aqaba crossing early in the morning, with one backpack and a passport that still smelled like the Ministry of the Interior.

The crossing was orderly and polite and less dramatic than she expected, clerks with stamps and standard questions, and then suddenly she was in Jordan.

הַמְּדִינָה נִמְצֵאת בְּמֶרְכַּז הָאָרֶץ וְיֵשׁ בָּהּ הַרְבֵּה מְקוֹמוֹת יָפִים ‎. .

The country is located in the center of the land and has many beautiful places.

בַּבֹּקֶר הָלַכְנוּ לַשּׁוּק הַגָּדוֹל וְקָנִינוּ פֵּרוֹת טְרִיִּים ‎. .

In the morning we went to the big market and bought fresh fruit.

אַחֲרֵי הַצָּהֳרַיִם יָשַׁבְנוּ בַּגִּנָּה וְדִבַּרְנוּ עַל הַחַיִּים ‎. .

In the afternoon we sat in the garden and talked about life.

הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ שָׁקְעָה לְאַט וְהָרוּחַ נָשְׁבָה בְּעַדְנוּת ‎. .

The sun set slowly and the wind blew gently.
