FAQ

Yes, if you start at A1. You do not need to know the alphabet first: every word has transliteration and translation. Expect to tap words often at first. That is normal. Your job in the first few stories is to follow the meaning, not memorise everything.

Duolingo is strong for quick drills and basic vocabulary. StoryHebrew is built for reading full sentences and stories in context. Most learners hit a wall when apps never give them connected text. StoryHebrew is meant to fill that gap.

Take the free level test if you are unsure. Otherwise start at A1 and move up only when you can read most of a story without tapping every word. Rushing to a harder level is the most common reason people stall.

A short story might introduce dozens of words, but you will only retain a handful on the first pass. That is fine. Mark words as you read, revisit stories you liked and let repetition do the work. Reading 5 to 10 minutes most days beats one long session on weekends.

Premium is $8.25/mo when billed annually, which includes a 7-day free trial. Or $14/mo when you bill monthly (no free trial).

Yes. Stories run from A1 to C2, with longer sentences, less common vocabulary and fewer vowel marks at higher levels. Stay at a level until it feels manageable, then step up one level at a time.

Yes. The full reader works in mobile browsers today, and you can add StoryHebrew to your home screen. Our native App Store app is coming very soon. If you create an account now and we will let you know once it is ready.

StoryHebrew teaches Modern Hebrew. It still helps with Biblical Hebrew because the alphabet, roots and core grammar overlap. You will build reading fluency and word analysis skills that transfer. You will still need extra study for archaic Biblical words, but we recommend learning Modern Hebrew first on StoryHebrew.

We release new premium stories every week, so there is always fresh reading material as you progress.

That is often the best setup. Use a class, tutor or grammar app for structure, and use StoryHebrew for daily reading volume. Even 5 minutes of story reading after a lesson helps new vocabulary stick.
